Dear Lord,

I have recently applied to the

Crown Agents for the Colonies for

an increase of pension in respect of the death of my late husband, who died on Active Service in Hong Kong August 1914.

They have informed me that I am not entitled to any additional pension from the funds of Hong Kong, but that I might address an application to the Colonial Office stating the circumstances of my case.

My husband, the late Mr. William Curwen, had been in the Hong Kong Civil Service for fourteen years, employed as Head of a Government School.

He was a keen and active member of the Hong Kong Volunteers for many years and died from sunstroke whilst on Active Service with the above Corps in August 1914.
